Onsite Contract IT Management & IT Project Management

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced technology leader to join a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities and improving the lives of those it serves. Reporting to the Chief Finance & Operations Officer, the Director of Information Technology will provide both strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization's technology infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and IT services.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative and collaborative leader who understands the unique technology needs of nonprofit organizations. They will have a demonstrated ability to align technology investments with organizational priorities, improve operational efficiency, safeguard critical systems and data, and support staff through responsive, customer-focused technology services. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on leadership in a dynamic, service-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that supports the organization's mission, operational goals, and future growth.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology planning, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • Lead technology planning, budgeting, lifecycle management, and long-range infrastructure initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness through innovative technology solutions and automation.

IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Direct all aspects of the organization's technology environment, including infrastructure, networks, cloud services, enterprise systems, and end-user support.
  • Ensure technology services remain secure, reliable, scalable, and responsive to organizational needs.
  • Oversee system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and complex technology initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain IT policies, governance standards, disaster recovery plans, and operational best practices.

Enterprise Applications & Business Systems

  • Lead the administration and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and other mission-critical business applications.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to improve business processes through technology, automation, reporting, and data analytics.
  • Promote sound data governance practices that support informed decision-making across the organization.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Provide leadership for enterprise cybersecurity, including risk assessments, vulnerability management, security awareness training, incident response, compliance initiatives, and coordination with managed security providers.
  • Ensure organizational systems and data remain protected through proactive security practices and ongoing monitoring.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team responsible for infrastructure, technical support, enterprise applications, and database administration.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex issues while promoting effective adoption of technology throughout the organization.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, managed service providers, and software partners.
  • Oversee technology contracts, licensing, cloud services, hardware procurement, and vendor performance.
  • Ensure technology investments maximize value while supporting organizational objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible information technology leadership experience, including at least three years managing teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise technology operations and organization-wide technology initiatives.
  • Experience administering enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, or comparable business systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, enterprise applications, systems administration, and end-user support.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead complex technology implementations and organizational change initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience leading technology operations within a nonprofit, foundation, association, healthcare, educational institution, or other mission-driven organization.
  • Understanding of the unique operational, budgetary, and stakeholder considerations common to nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience leveraging technology to improve constituent engagement, fundraising operations, program delivery, or organizational effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, automation technologies, and digital transformation initiatives.
