Director of Human Resources OperationsLOS ANGELES, CAOverviewSalary Range $175,000.00 - $200,000.00 SalaryDescriptionThe Director of HR Operations is responsible for leading and executing all day-to-day human resources operations across corporate and plant locations, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and consistent service delivery. This role drives process improvement, standardization, and automation across HR functions while serving as a strategic partner to leadership on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate operates with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, balancing strategic leadership with execution to support the evolving needs of the business.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other job-related duties may be assigned.HR Operations LeadershipOversee daily HR operations across all locations to ensure consistency, efficiency, and complianceLead, develop, and manage the HR team, including HRCs and HR operations staffEstablish and enforce standardized HR processes and service delivery modelsEmployee Relations, Engagement & CultureLead and oversee employee relations matters, including complex and sensitive investigationsEnsure investigations are conducted promptly, thoroughly, and in compliance with legal standardsPartner with Legal and external counsel as neededMitigate risk and ensure consistent application of company policiesDevelop and implement programs to maintain positive employee relations and enhance employee engagementDemonstrate a strong understanding of Company culture and act as a change agent to evolve the organization through HR initiatives and systemsPolicy, SOPs & ComplianceDevelop, update, and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and the employee handbookEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across all locationsConduct audits of HR practices and implement corrective actionsLead compliance-related training initiativesHR Process Improvement & AutomationIdentify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes (Paycom and related systems)Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilityPartner with IT and Finance on system enhancements and integrationsPAF (Personnel Action Form) ManagementOversee the full lifecycle of the PAF process from initiation through final approvalEnsure accuracy, proper approvals, and alignment with compensation structuresImplement process improvements to reduce manual work and approval bottlenecksCompensation & Performance ManagementLead compensation programs, including salary structures (grades and ranges), merit increases, and market benchmarkingOversee performance management cycles through Lattice, including calibration and rating alignmentEnsure consistency, fairness, and alignment with business objectivesBonus & Incentive ProgramsManage the design, administration, and execution of bonus and incentive programsPartner with Finance to ensure accuracy and alignment with approved budgetsOversee validation and audit processes prior to payoutWorkers' Compensation ManagementOversee Workers' Compensation program, including claims management and vendor coordinationPartner with Safety and plant leadership to reduce risk and improve return-to-work outcomesMonitor trends and implement proactive cost and risk reduction strategiesHR Systems & Data ManagementEnsure integrity and accuracy of HR data within Paycom and related systemsOversee reporting and analytics to support business decisionsDrive system optimization and proper configuration of HR modulesLeave of Absence & Compliance OversightOversee administration of FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, and other leave programsEnsure consistent application and reduce compliance risk across all locationsAudits & Risk ManagementAssist with internal and external audits, including compliance, payroll, benefits, and regulatory reviewsPartner with Finance, Legal, and external auditors to ensure accurate documentation and timely responsesIdentify gaps and implement corrective actions to mitigate riskOrganizational Support & Strategic PartnershipServe as a key advisor to leadership on HR operations, compliance, and risk managementSupport organizational changes, restructuring, and workforce planningPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and OperationsIdentify training and development needs across the organization and partner with the Learning & Development Manager to implement programs and identify appropriateQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as listed above as well as below:Strong knowledge of HR laws, compliance, and best practices.Experience with Paycom, Power BI and other data management tools.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong understanding of industry trends and strategies.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and senior management.Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's preferred8–12+ years of progressive HR experience with strong HR operations focusPHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.Experience in multi-site or manufacturing environments preferredStrong knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirementsExperience with HRIS systems (Paycom preferred) and performance platforms (Lattice preferred)Demonstrated experience in process improvement and HR automationStrong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
