Onsite Full Time Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

The Director of Global Trade Compliance will lead export and import compliance across the Aerospace & Electronics segment of a diversified industrial organization. This individual will play a key role in enabling business objectives by designing, implementing, and maintaining effective trade compliance programs aligned with applicable regulations and internal standards. This individual will report into the organization's senior trade compliance leadership within the legal department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of global trade compliance programs, ensuring adherence to U.S. and international regulations.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls in collaboration with cross‑functional stakeholders (e.g., engineering, supply chain, logistics, program management).
  • Manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals across multiple business units, including workload prioritization and performance oversight.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day compliance activities, including: Export classification and jurisdiction analysis, licensing strategy, applications, and administration, technology transfer and deemed export considerations, import compliance matters (classification, valuation, country of origin), free trade agreement qualification and duty optimization programs, coordination with customs brokers and third‑party providers.
  • Interface with relevant government agencies on trade‑related matters and support regulatory inquiries as needed.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote trade compliance awareness across the organization.
  • Support internal and external audits, investigations, and voluntary disclosures related to potential compliance issues.
  • Contribute to enterprise initiatives, including M&A due diligence and post‑acquisition integration of compliance programs.
  • Monitor evolving global trade regulations and advise the business on risk exposure and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Juris Doctor preferred.
  • Approximately 8+ years of experience in international trade compliance.
  • Familiarity with non‑U.S. regulatory frameworks, including European or UK export/import controls.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex compliance programs in a global, multi‑entity environment.
  • Proven leadership experience, including team management and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., customs broker license) and/or ability to obtain security clearance are a plus.
