An established and growing convenience store chain in the Southeast is seeking a Director of Environmental to oversee compliance testing, remediation and management for their Petro services arm of the business. The ideal candidate will have a background in C-store environmental remediation with a track record of success and state compliance.
Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year. You will also receive a company car for work and personal use, a company phone, a company laptop, and an annual bonus of 8–10%.
Essential Functions
- Coordination and management of programs for remediation of contaminated sites.
- Management of compliance testing for tank and petroleum dispensing systems.
- Oversight of petroleum systems maintenance activity related to remediation, compliance, and product integrity.
- Due diligence oversight of environmental liability related to real estate transactions.
- Emergency response coordination and reporting management of fuel releases.
- Insurance claim management related to remediation, releases, and compliance.
- Permitting and funding oversight of hazardous materials removal and tank installation or removal.
- Coordination and management of environmental and maintenance vendors.
- Supervision of compliance manager role and field personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- 18+ years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to drive independently.
- Advanced knowledge of state-funded remediation programs in Florida and North Carolina.
- Detailed understanding of regulations related to the transportation and storage of petroleum products.
- Capability to effectively manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with interested parties.
- Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic communication.
- Must pass a pre-hire drug screen, background check, and MVR.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Articulate, professional verbal and written communication in English.
- Sufficient close visual acuity to accurately perform reading and typing functions on standard computer systems.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and carry short distances.
- Ability to sit, stand, or move for extended periods during meetings, site visits, trade shows, and other events.
- Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision and generate timely progress reports.
- Interpersonal aptitude; must effectively work with clients, vendors, and company personnel of all levels.
- Refined analytical and organizational skills; ability to adapt in a multi-task, multi-location, corporate business environment with fluctuating priorities.
- Adequate patience for providing mentorship and training to junior colleagues.
Work Environment
- Responsibilities performed primarily in office.
- Field visits to locations as required.
- Duties executed at retail convenience and fueling locations may involve inclement weather and other unforeseeable conditions.
