Director of Enterprise Risk ManagementThe Director of Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for the plans and programs that protect lives and property, prevent accidents and incidents, and preserve the learning environment and business operations of the University. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer, the Director of Enterprise Risk Management provides executive-level leadership to Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance, Emergency Management and Business Continuity, Security, and Environmental Health and Safety. This position will focus on the University's Enterprise Risk Management, Safety, and Security by focusing on hazard-based risk identification, mitigation, and controls.

The Director of Enterprise Risk Management will also provide support and expertise to University, local, state, and federal partners.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to maintain confidentiality.Knowledge of CA Building Codes and Fire Life Safety Codes.Demonstrates flexibility and good judgment when adjusting to changing job demands.Skills in developing strong community relations as well as building bridges between the campus community and the surrounding community.Ability to work effectively with the culture of the University, with sensitivity to issues of diversity. Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond under pressure.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, combined with strong leadership and organizational skills which will enable him/her to work effectively with all encountered individuals, groups or organizations.Courteous and professional manner at all times.Ability to organize and prioritize workload.Requirements and ResponsibilitiesRequires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.7+ years of progressive experience in Risk Management, Safety and Security field.2+ years of directing and implementing security and safety policies and procedures on campus.Demonstrated ability to manages the work activities of campus security and patrol units.Must poses a valid CDL or ID.Travel Requirements:Travel to SMU campuses to evaluate safety and security needs and implement measures, as needed.Physical Requirements:Must be able to bend, lift, and move both upper and lower body. Requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds and perform activities such as carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and stooping.Employee Status: RegularExemption Status: United States of America (Exempt)Time Type: Full timePay Range: Annual salary range: $142,000 ~ $165,000 (exempt) Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements.

Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant skills.
