We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead an engineering function within a growing advanced manufacturing business.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for engineering strategy, team leadership, process development, customer programs and continuous improvement. The role will work closely with production, operations, quality and commercial teams to support business growth and technical development.
The successful candidate will have a strong manufacturing background, ideally with experience in additive manufacturing, and be comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands‑on level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the engineering function and wider technical strategy.
- Drive process development, continuous improvement and manufacturing efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership across engineering and production activities.
- Support new product introduction, customer programmes and technical projects.
- Lead material, product and manufacturing process development.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, equipment and processes.
- Work closely with customers and internal teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Manage engineering resources, budgets and technical projects.
- Support root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and quality improvements.
- Build relationships with customers, technology providers and external industry partners.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years' experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally including advanced or additive manufacturing.
- Previous experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership position.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with CAD and relevant manufacturing software.
- Exposure to areas such as metal manufacturing, additive manufacturing, machining, finishing, materials or related technologies.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, technical resources and engineering projects.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands‑on level.
