This is your opportunity to drive innovation, solve complex challenges, and ensure our technology empowers storytelling that serves our community.What You'll Do:Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service, and leadershipLead the research, design, installation, and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high-power RF systems, production environments, and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocolsManage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation, and security systemsPartner with the news department to develop, build, and support content workflow and support systems, including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking, and infrastructure, while facilitating a collaborative environment between the newsroom and production control staffMotivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators, and IT techniciansDevelop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the ongoing and future technological needs of the station, and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessmentsEstablish and implement engineering policies and proceduresEvaluate and maintain the spectrum and broadband usage of the facilityManage projectsPlan, design, and document current and future broadcast and digital systemsCollaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio, transmission, and workflow needsPrepare and track capital, expense, repair, and maintenance budgetsUse the company purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services, as well as replacement cyclesEvaluate equipment solutionsKeep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulationsPerform other duties as assignedWhat You'll Need:BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferredGenerally, 10+ years of experience in a related field is preferredPrior managerial experience preferredNetwork, SBE, and/or Project Management certification preferredValid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limitsWhat You'll Bring:"Customer service first" mindset, ability to deliver a high level of customer serviceStrong interpersonal skillsStrategic planning abilitiesExcellent managerial skills in working with management, users, staff, peers, and vendorsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to relate technical matters to non-technical usersAbility to relate business matters to technical staffTeam playerSelf-directed and can work independentlyStrong project management skillsCan manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines smoothlyKnowledge of FCC rulesUnderstanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and information systemsKeen interest in emerging broadcast-related technologies and how they might be utilized in our business environmentWhere You'll Live, Work, and Play:Kansas City, Missouri, offers the perfect blend of Midwestern charm and metropolitan energy.
