Director of Engineering

Job Description

A client in the Huntsville area is looking for a Director of Engineering to join their team! This role will be responsible for supervising, developing, and mentoring a diverse engineering team of both engineers and designers while also being process driven to achieve quality, costs, and scheduling. This role works simultaneously alongside production and manufacturing, and you will be responsible for coordination with the production facility and management for product development. This position allows for support from RFI and RFP stage including following products from concept, through engineering, development, and ultimately production and delivery to the customer.

Skills and Requirements

• 10+ years of Technical Management experience overseeing Engineering teams including mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines
• Experience overseeing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and working with production for product development
• Strong understanding of military and industry specifications (MIL-SPEC, ASME, etc.)
• Experience overseeing design reviews
• Experience with government contracting and responding to RFPs and RFIs
• Experience presenting gated artifacts to customers and senior officials
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor others with a minimum of 10 direct reports in a previous role
• Experience setting, owning, and managing an annual budget
• Strong communication and professionalism
• Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited school Solidworks EPDM experience
• Master’s in engineering
• PE License
• MBA
