G-Horizon Aluminum is building one of West Africa’s most ambitious industrial projects: a 300,000-tonne-per-year aluminum rolling mill powered entirely by hydroelectric energy . As the region's first large-scale green aluminum platform, we are redefining sustainable manufacturing while enabling economic transformation in Guinea and beyond.

We’re in the Front-End Loading Phase 2 (FEL-2) and preparing to enter FEL-3 . Our integrated development strategy includes rolled products, extrusion capabilities, scrap recovery, and an ESG-forward local infrastructure plan—including the development of a community health clinic. Role Overview

As Director of Engineering & Project Development , you will serve as the technical anchor for this flagship greenfield project. Reporting directly to the founding team, you will lead all aspects of technical planning, engineering scoping, consultant oversight, and FEL-stage execution , working across process engineering, CapEx validation, utility infrastructure (hydropower integration), and detailed project scheduling.

This is a rare opportunity to join an impact-driven industrial startup at the ground level, owning the development roadmap of one of Africa’s largest aluminum investments.Responsibilities

• Lead all FEL-2 and FEL-3 activities, including conceptual engineering, material flow modeling, site utility planning, and technical validation
• Translate production goals (300,000+ tpa) into actionable equipment, layout, and process specs
• Oversee workstreams with external engineering consultants, EPCs, OEM vendors, and permitting specialists
• Optimize energy usage and layout for full hydropower integration (incl. grid design, substations, water recovery)
• Prepare detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), PFDs/P&IDs, equipment schedules, and CapEx refinement models

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with the Country Director to factor in land access, labor force, water rights, ESG initiatives, and regulatory inputs
• Coordinate with finance and investor relations to support technical sections of data rooms, pitch decks, and diligence materials
• Contribute to the risk register and mitigation strategies ahead of EPC and procurement phases

Ideal Profile

• 10+ years of engineering and project development experience in aluminum, steel, cement, or large-scale process industry
• Deep experience managing FEL-stage or greenfield capital projects above $100M
• Strong working knowledge of aluminum rolling technology, extrusion lines, or foil processes (bonus if familiar with ACP or anodizing)
• Experience with energy-intensive facility design and integration with renewable or grid infrastructure
• Proven ability to manage cross-border teams and consultants in high-growth or frontier markets
• Passion for sustainable infrastructure, industrial innovation, and long-term economic development
• (Bonus) French language skills and experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa or francophone regions
