MAU is hiring a Director of Safety for Archer Aviation in San Jose, CA. As a Director of Safety, you will oversee and lead corporate safety programs to ensure compliance, prevent accidents, and maintain a zero-injury workplace. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:

  • Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Safety) or related profession with at least 6+ years of experience in environmental engineering or health and safety
  • OR
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental engineering or health and safety
  • Previous experience leading safety within a manufacturing organization
  • Experience creating corporate safety culture programs and safety training modules

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with all facets of lithium-ion battery storage, testing, and use
  • Aviation industry experience
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene Principles, SARA 311/312/313 reporting, NSR Permitting

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure corporate safety programs comply with OSHA requirements (IIPP, COVID protocols, recurring training)
  • Serve as Occupational Safety Liaison to Safety Council and departments
  • Consolidate safety policies and procedures into an Accident Prevention Manual
  • Coordinate safety programs internally and with HSE contractors and consultants
  • Oversee compliant handling and management of waste streams
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for programs such as Lock-out / Tag-out
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to HSE programs
  • Serve as on-site liaison for inspections, audits, and enforcement
  • Coordinate facility permitting for offices, labs, and manufacturing spaces
