About the Role:
The Director of Creative Media reports directly to the AssociateAthletics Director for External Operations and serves as the leadcreative professional for Athletics and is responsible fordeveloping and producing visual content that enhances thedepartment's brand, supports recruiting efforts, engages fans andpromotes the success of NKU student-athletes and programs.
Working closely with coaches, student-athletes, athleticsadministrators and external operations staff, the Director ofCreative Media develops and executes content strategies acrossdigital and social media platforms through photography,videography, graphic design and other multimedia storytelling. Theposition plays a key role in advancing departmental prioritiesrelated to fan engagement, recruiting, ticket sales, fundraisingand brand awareness.
The Director of Creative Media provides creative leadership forathletics content production while also serving as a hands-oncontent creator. The position manages student workers and interns,establishes creative standards and helps ensure a consistent andrecognizable visual identity for NKU Athletics.
Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at NorthernKentucky University. As a member of the athletics department staff,it is expected that the Director of Creative Media will have a fullunderstanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to the position. It isalso expected that the Director of Creative Media will comply withall NCAA rules and if he/she becomes aware, or have reasonablecause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred he/shewill immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/herdesignee.
- Creative Content Development and Storytelling
Lead the planning, creation and production of multimedia contentthat promotes NKU Athletics, supports recruiting efforts, enhancesfan engagement and highlights the achievements of student-athletes,coaches and programs. Produce content for social media, digitalplatforms, athletics websites, recruiting materials, fundraisinginitiatives and special projects.
- Photography, Videography and Graphic Design
Serve as the department's primary visual content creator throughphotography, videography and graphic design. Capture athleticsevents, practices, community engagement activities and specialevents while producing creative assets that support departmentalinitiatives.
- Content Strategy and Brand Management
Develop content plans and creative strategies that align withdepartmental goals and maintain a consistent visual identity acrossathletics platforms. Collaborate with athletics leadership andexternal operations staff to identify storytelling opportunitiesand support strategic priorities.
- Collaboration and Project Support
Work closely with coaches, student-athletes, athleticscommunications, marketing, ticketing, development and corporatepartnerships staff to create content that supports recruiting, fanengagement, sponsorship fulfillment and revenue-generatinginitiatives.
- Student Staff Supervision and Creative Operations
Recruit, train and supervise student employees and interns. Assistwith content scheduling, asset organization, equipment managementand workflow coordination to support departmental creativeneeds.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated experience in photography, videography & graphicdesign. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop,Illustrator, Premier Pro & related applications. Strong visualstorytelling, creative thinking and content development skills.Knowledge of social media content creation and digitalcommunication platforms. Ability to manage multiple projects andmeet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication,collaboration and organizational skills.
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications,Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, Journalism, Photography,Video Production or a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in NCAA athletics,supervising student employees or interns, experience with motiongraphics, animation or advanced video production techniques and aportfolio demonstrating photography, videography and graphic designwork.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of professional experiencein multimedia production, creative media, digital content creation,athletics communications, marketing or a related field.
- Preferred experience in collegiate athletics, professionalsports or a comparable environment.
