We are looking for a Director of Construction to oversee all phases of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Director will set the standard for safety, quality, and productivity across all job sites.
Responsibilities
- Implement all construction field policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain construction schedules, resource‑allocation plans, and progress reports
- Communicate consistently with all departments to achieve division goals
- Oversee field operations and production times; ensure quality control so homes meet D.R. Horton quality standards and are ready for homeowner orientation and occupancy
- Communicate expectations and direction to employees and subcontractors regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies, safety standards, quality control, and other performance standards
- Evaluate scopes and performance of all subcontractors and vendors
- Review and approve project budgets, contracts, change orders, and payment applications
- Promote an accountability culture focused on quality and customer satisfaction
- Recruit, retain, and motivate a team across all functions required to run a successful division
- Foster strong relationships with subcontractors, verifying communication and accountability
- Analyze customer satisfaction surveys, identify trends, and implement solutions to improve scores
- Drive cost‑effective product decisions; provide recommendations to reduce costs and increase efficiency
- Ensure employees represent D.R. Horton professionally to the public and local government offices
- Monitor marketplace changes and react quickly to capitalize on opportunities
- Oversee safety training to promote safe and efficient construction processes
- Conduct business professionally and ethically to serve customers and enhance company goodwill and profit
- Ability to travel overnight
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises 2 or more employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in construction or related field from a four‑year college or university
- 10+ years of progressive construction experience
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations
- Basic accounting or finance knowledge
- Experience in a leadership role involving operations, sales, and production
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills through persistence and ability to overcome obstacles
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions given in written, oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency in MS Office and email
- Physical requirements: stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to 8‑hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at waist; walk up and down stairs; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; lift/move up to 25 pounds; vision: close, distance, color, peripheral

Compensation
- Annual salary range: $115,000 – $130,000, depending on qualifications and experience
