Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Director Communications 1 who will report to the Head of Communications, Aeronautics Systems. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. The director will lead strategy, development, messaging and execution for the aeronautics business to advance our brand and reputation as an aeronautics leader. They will need to excel at collaboration both within our company but also with our many customer communities.On the business side, you will partner with communications and functional leaders to lead the development of high-impact strategies, as well as priorities including growth priority programs and new business captures. In terms of positioning, you will lead strategy and execution for shaping executive thought leadership both internally and externally.
You will also lead a small team of program communications professionals responsible for the day-to-day operations of these activities and manage their associated budgets. Expertise in communications strategy, editorial planning and management of content channels (preferably branded editorial), and communications measurement is required.In this role, the selected candidate will:Partner with communications leadership on the development of communications strategy - internal and external - to drive performance, reputation and engagement.Partner with functional team peers on the development of content in support sector and enterprise prioritiesPartner with Strategy and Business growth leadership on the development of our sector integrated marketing strategy, including positioning in key priority growth areas.Lead and mentor a small team of dedicated program communications professionals to help them achieve success in their roles; work with individual team members to support their professional development and goals; be an advocate for the communications team, and for cutting-edge resources.Work closely with customers on integrated communications planning and implementation.Have a deep understanding of communications trends, best practices and technologies to reach broad audiences.We offer flexible working schedules 9/80, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. We are looking for candidates with experience in composite-building processes, that are self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented to support our products & customers.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business or other liberal arts fieldMust have at least 10 years of experience in communications, media, marketing, and/or public relationsExperience leading or managing cross-functional teamsStrong writing skills with experience tailoring messages to a variety of audiences, particularly in translating one message for a diverse range of stakeholdersExpertise in strategic communications planning, including the development of measurable objectives and associated KPIsProven experience in building productive working relationships with functional and/or business leaders, including customersFamiliarity with communications measurement tools and best practicesStrong judgment and ability to remain agile in a fast-moving environment with rapidly shifting prioritiesBudget management experienceExperience leading and mentoring individuals in their professional developmentYour ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret Clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the companyPreferred Qualifications:Aerospace and defense industry experience, with a familiarization of DoD and Global government customers.Excellent collaboration and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively interface with and influence all levels of managementExcellent speechwriting skills, with experience in developing executive level content, talking points and statementsAbility to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows and branding guidelinesExcellent project management skillsPrimary Level Salary Range: $160,200.00 - $240,200.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
