Overview
Director of Commissioning to take ownership of the commissioning process for large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. You’ll lead from day one, guiding teams, engaging clients, and ensuring every system performs flawlessly before handover.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary commissioning teams across multiple projects.
- Develop and execute commissioning strategies from preconstruction to final turnover.
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty system commissioning.
- Partner with project managers, contractors, and third-party agents to keep schedules, budgets, and quality on track.
- Conduct site inspections, troubleshoot issues, and ensure full compliance with design and performance specs.
- Lead client meetings, deliver progress reports, and provide technical expertise.
- Drive operational excellence by standardizing processes and integrating commissioning tech tools.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in mission-critical/data center commissioning, with 5+ years leading large-scale programs.
- Proven expertise with complex MEP and critical infrastructure systems.
- Deep understanding of industry standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, NFPA, NEBB, BCA).
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and client-facing skills.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Procore, BIM 360, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar preferred.
Location & Travel
This role offers the flexibility of remote work with a preference for candidates near Northern Virginia, plus approximately 25% travel to project sites. There is the option to be based in other major metropolitans with the expectation of travelling up to 50% of the time.
Compensation
Location: McLean, VA
Salary: $161,500.00-$218,500.00
