Director of Clinical Education

Position Description Summary/Purpose :

The Director of Clinical Education will possess excellent writtenand communication skills, academic credentials, and analytic andorganisational proficiency. This is a full-time, position thatreports to the Executive Director, School of Nursing, workingcollaboratively with the Program Directors and all appropriatefaculty and staff to promote student success by ensuringappropriate and meaningful clinical placements and sufficientadjunct faculty. The Director of Clinical Education will teach onecourse each semester in his or her area of expertise.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators to ensure programexcellence
• Provide leadership and support to coordinate the delivery ofclinical education
• Schedule clinical experiences in collaboration with clinicalcoordinators to determine clinical and adjunct needs
• Develop and maintain adjunct, preceptor, and clinicalaffiliation paperwork and contracts
• Conduct orientation, faculty development, and evaluation foradjunct clinical instructors
• Collect, compile, and conduct basic analysis of assessment datain collaboration with Executive director and programDirectors
• Initiate community outreach efforts that enhance thedevelopment of the School of Nursing
• Maintain contract agreements, files, and forms to ensure thatall students and faculty have met the requirements set forth by theclinical agency
• Teach one course/ semester in area of expertise
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

• Continues professional development and training; keeps currentwith trends.
• Assists other School of Nursing Faculty as needed to promote ateam effort.
• Supports student success in a diverse environment
• Potential for innovative and creative activity

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications :

Education, Training and Experience :

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in nursing or related field
• State of CT RN license (or eligible)
• Recent Clinical experience is required.
• Ability to demonstrate effectiveness in working with diversepopulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of recent teaching experience in auniversity nursing program.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills
• One year in a leadership position
• Doctorate
