Responsibilities

  • Provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based critical care at Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) by investigating, diagnosing, and treating acutely ill patients, including performing bedside treatments and procedures.
  • Serve as a full-time intensivist with clinical duties, contributing to 24/7 intensivist coverage across Mount Sinai Health System.
  • Write detailed medical records for all critical care services and procedures and submit to Charge Capture in a timely manner.
  • Achieve an annual work-relative value unit (wRVU) target based on billable critical care services and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical continuing education courses and workshops to expand competency in treatment and procedures.
  • Provide administrative leadership for the MICU, including faculty development and coverage schedule development.
  • Participate in research activities, including clinical trials and drafting manuscripts for academic journals, with initiatives being clinical and data-driven.
  • Teach and mentor critical care fellows, attend fellow conferences, and give lectures.

Compensation

  • Compensation range from $350,000 to $450,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).
  • May qualify for a productivity bonus if the wRVUs generated exceed your annual target.
  • Opportunity to work extra shifts for additional compensation once minimum monthly requirements are achieved.
  • Payment for each additional service will be made in a lump sum within 60 days of your service if the faculty attestation form is submitted timely.
  • Achieve several individual and team-based metrics for patient care which align with ICCM's quality incentive.

Shift & Schedule

  • 0.80 clinical FTE critical care faculty responsible for 10.4 shifts per month with a combination of day and night shifts.
  • Monthly shift count will be allocated according to your critical care clinical effort.

Requirements

  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring the critical care fellows.
  • Engagement in scholarly activities (at least two, within every 3 years), including presentations, publications, grand rounds, serving on professional committees, or creating curricula.
  • Participation in ACGME-required faculty development programs, including registration and attendance at the annual Mount Sinai GME meeting and completion of GME snippet.
  • Contribute to ongoing fellowship program assessment and improvement by completing fellow rotation evaluations, participating in biannual faculty meetings, and participating in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
