The Director, Inventory Management is responsible for developing and leading the inventory management strategy across distribution centers and fulfillment operations. This role ensures inventory accuracy, strengthens inventory controls, and drives operational excellence while partnering closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and Finance to optimize inventory performance, improve service levels, and maximize inventory turnover.
This position is based in our Midtown Manhattan office from Mondays-Thursdays, and remote on Fridays. Occasional travel to our Trenton, NJ-based 3PL is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company's inventory management strategy across distribution and fulfillment operations.
- Drive improvements in inventory accuracy, inventory turnover, and the reduction of excess and obsolete inventory.
- Oversee cycle count programs, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and support timely financial reporting.
- Own and maintain inventory-related SOX controls, ensuring compliance with internal control frameworks and external audit requirements.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor inventory health, operational performance, and control effectiveness.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory processes and operational efficiency.
- Establish inventory governance, policies, and standard operating procedures across warehouse and fulfillment operations.
- Manage inventory-related audits and ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize ERP systems, inventory management tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Review inventory adjustments, write-offs, and scrap transactions to ensure appropriate approvals and documentation.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing inventory control team.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive inventory, warehouse, distribution center, or supply chain experience, with a strong emphasis on inventory control in distribution or fulfillment environments.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing inventory control or warehouse operations teams.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP and warehouse management systems.

- Strong understanding of inventory control best practices within distribution centers, fulfillment operations, and warehouse environments.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of SOX requirements and internal control frameworks.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with ERP and WMS systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work across office locations and internal and third-party warehouse facilities as needed.
