Onsite Full Time General

Oversees infection control and prevention for NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue as Director, Infection Prevention and Control. Posts at Assistant/Associate Professor level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on establishment and implementation of the infection control program.
  • Chair the Surveillance Team and provide direction and guidance in its activities.
  • Chair the Infection Control Committee.
  • Maintain liaison with Bellevue Microbiology Laboratory, New York City Department of Health, CDC, Health and Hospitals Corporation, and infectious disease consultants in Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Lead planning and direction of surveillance activities.
  • Coordinate data analysis from surveillance activities and prepare results for distribution to committees, authorities, and staff.
  • Lead Infection Preventionists in epidemiologic investigations of clusters, outbreaks or potential outbreaks and make recommendations.
  • Lead Infection Preventionists in investigations requested by hospital administration or medical staff.
  • Direct Infection Preventionists in advising staff and departments in prevention and control of infection.
  • Review plans for new construction and renovation and advise on matters of infection control.
  • Participate in development, review, and revision of infection control policies for hospital, clinical departments, and support services.
  • Participate in educational programs for medical staff and other employees in matters of infection control.
  • Participate in activities or committees related to Product Evaluation, Performance Improvement, and Risk Management.
  • Assume leadership roles and responsibilities (e.g. JACHO visits, Medical Board) for Bellevue Hospital Center as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Infectious Diseases.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of progressive infection control, infectious disease, or epidemiology experience in clinical practice.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of supervisory, teaching, and/or administrative experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience in infection prevention and control.
