Director, Human Resources role at AHMC HealthCare
Directly responsible for planning, organizing, directing & controlling all facets of Human Resources & Employee Health departments and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local laws and TJC requirements. Acts as a strategic partner on the Administrative Team and advises Executive Team on HR and employee health matters, contributing to the overall mission of the Medical Center.
Essential Functions
- Ensuring effective implementation of personnel and labor/employee relations plans and programs.
- Planning, directing, and administering corporate and facility policies and procedures in areas of employment, salary administration, labor/employee relations, benefits, workers’ compensation, and training and development.
- Planning and recommending new programs and improvement of existing programs.
- Initiating changes or modifications to existing policies for compliance with laws, regulations, competitive practices, and operational objectives.
- Administrating union contracts, grievance, arbitration and administrative proceedings and participating in collective bargaining negotiations.
- Counseling facility management on personnel and labor/employee relation matters.
- Determining termination of employees in a fair and appropriate manner and administering consistent disciplinary action.
- Managing workers’ compensation program, claims handling, and coordinating with industrial clinic, claims adjuster(s), attorney, and injured worker.
- Attending training to stay current with changing regulations, laws and TJC requirements and participating in facility and corporate meetings.
- Overseeing the HR department, ensuring effective implementation of personnel and labor/employee relations, and supervising the HR staff.
- Administering collective bargaining agreements, grievance, and arbitration processes.
- Participating in contract negotiations and managing workers’ compensation claims.
- Implementing programs and training to reduce employee injuries and ensuring compliance with all employment laws.
- Managing recruitment, training, development, and succession planning for employees.
- Ensuring equal opportunity employment and proper recruiting of qualified personnel.
- Implementing programs to minimize employee turnover and resolve conflict of interest issues.
- Demonstrating integrity and ethical decision-making.
- Maintaining HR TJC requirements and overseeing the AQMD program.
- Administering benefit programs, recruitment, and leaves of absence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management or related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years of directly related management experience; previous experience in healthcare desired.
- Three years of hospital human resources experience as a generalist.
- Prior union/labor relations experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with HR/Payroll computerized information systems.
- General mathematical and budgeting skills.
- Experience with TJC.
- Excellent human relation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
