Position Overview
Director – Histocompatibility Laboratory responsible for ensuring laboratory compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards, quality assurance, development of laboratory processes, clinical protocols, and budget preparation and monitoring. The laboratory operates 24/7 and provides services to University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, The James Cancer Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement Organization.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Administrative Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center for business activities and collaborate with the Clinical Consultant.
- Overall management of the histocompatibility laboratory, overseeing quality of operations and all technical aspects.
- Direct technological staff and collaborate with attending physicians and fellows in solid organ and bone marrow transplantation for design, implementation, and review of technical processes.
- Personnel management, ensuring customer service, and leading staff training and evaluation.
- Develop, implement, and monitor testing protocols and maintain budget management.
- Represent The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center at local, regional, and national levels as a liaison with laboratory and transplant organizations, agencies, and professional bodies.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Doctorate (Professional).
- Must hold a PhD in Biology or a related field.
- Must hold certification as an HLA Histocompatibility Laboratory Director (as defined by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics).
- Must maintain Clinical Histocompatibility Diplomate status (D‑ABHI) conferred by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
