Position Summary
Serve as a subject-matter expert and consultative resource to University and Global Enrollment Management and Student Success (GEMSS) leaders and business owners on federal and state regulations (e.g., Title IV) and other compliance issues impacting Enrollment Management areas (Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, Student Success, Institutional Research). Interpret policy, review practices across GEMSS, and recommend changes to ensure compliant, efficient, and effective service delivery, aligned with the university mission and resources. Lead FERPA compliance in collaboration with the Registrar, and provide related training and monitoring of practices. Oversee reporting and audits involving Title IV and other regulations, ensure data accuracy and timely submissions across the Office of Financial Aid and other GEMSS areas. Conduct compliance reviews and audits. Serve as a consultative resource for other compliance administrators across the University, including Office of Legal Counsel, University Compliance, Office of Academic Program Review and Assessment, Government Relations, Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management, and others. Maintain clear communication with the University’s Office of Ethics and Compliance and report to Global Enrollment Management & Student Success leadership, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Global Compliance Officer. Represent NYU at professional associations and other settings.
Qualifications
- Required Education: Master’s Degree in a related area (e.g., Higher Education Administration, MBA, MPA, etc.).
- Preferred Education: JD, PhD in Higher Ed or Policy, MBA with emphasis in higher education/Title IV, plus 7–10 years of relevant experience; NASFAA Certification.
- Required Experience: 7+ years of relevant management experience with Financial Aid, Title IV and/or Higher Education policy and compliance; strong knowledge of Higher Education policy and practice.
- Preferred Experience: 10+ years in similar compliance or leadership roles with Title IV focus; or 10+ years providing legal counsel in higher education with Title IV emphasis; DOE leadership or Title IV audit experience.
- Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: In-depth knowledge of Title IV regulations and ability to extend guidance to other regulatory areas as they apply to GEMSS. Ability to interpret regulations for university leadership, analyze Title IV eligibility data, and communicate complex requirements. Strong collaboration skills across a large university environment. Experience in writing and leading policy and procedure documents; ability to translate needs into actionable plans. Public speaking experience representing the university in high-profile settings. Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate information into quantifiable action plans. Experience with Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems.
- Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience providing formal legal assistance to universities or program reviews/audits, DOE policy development.
Additional Information
