Job Description
Title: Director
Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from accredited college or university.
Alabama superintendent-principal certification
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
Experience as a school principal, assistant principal or central office staff member is highly desirable but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
Exhibits ability to apply data analysis and evaluation techniques.
Demonstrates expertise in the design and evaluation of curriculum services for schools.
Exhibits knowledge of current trends and best practices in public education.
Exhibits knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Implements conflict resolution practices.
Exhibits the ability to effectively use technology for school system management and supervision.
Essential Functions:
Provides leadership and assistance in the continuous development and evaluation of the system's program of education.
Provides leadership and direction to school administrators and faculty consistent with system goals.
Monitors the existing school program and learning environment and works to develop and maintain the school concept.
Assists with curriculum development and instructional improvement activities at the school level.
Assists with the implementation of programs for in-service training.
Evaluates instructional techniques and materials used in the system.
Disseminates information on innovative and creative instructional programs and techniques to school administrators and faculty.
Keeps the Superintendent informed on major developments in the school program.
Supervises teachers through classroom visits, personal conferences and/or written reports as requested.
Provides teachers with counsel and assistance toward solution of instructional problems as requested.
Evaluates principals, assistant principals, and teachers as assigned.
Participates in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of new teachers as requested.
Maintains confidentiality of Board of Education business.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

Possesses the ability to physically navigate the schools and offices.
Demonstrates proper use of acceptable grammar and diction.
Projects and modulates voice in a school environment with and/or without the use of electronic aides.
Represents the school system in a positive manner at all times.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
