We’re seeking a director to orchestrate engineering operations, enforce technical governance, and develop leaders who can deliver complex automation programs with consistency and speed.Your ImpactBuild and mentor a bench of Engineering Managers, technical leads, and multidisciplinary teams.Establish a performance system with clear expectations, KPIs, and metrics for every engineering function.Standardize processes, tools, and best practices to improve scalability, efficiency, quality, and utilization.Define and execute an engineering strategy fully aligned to company objectives and growth plans.Select and implement technologies and systems that uplift engineering throughput and reliability.Codify documentation standards and stage-gate/design review processes to protect quality.Lead from the front on critical projects, customer escalations, and complex technical issues.Drive enterprise consistency, risk management, and operational readiness across teams.Cross-Functional LeadershipPartner with Operations, PMO, Manufacturing, Sales, and Executive Leadership to synchronize priorities and resources.Contribute to capacity modeling, staffing plans, forecasting, and long-term growth strategy.Support customer engagements, technical reviews, and business development initiatives.Translate engineering activity into operational, financial, and customer success outcomes.Talent and Continuous ImprovementLead recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and performance management for engineering leadership.Create technical career ladders and succession paths; develop the next generation of leaders.Institutionalize continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and process optimization.Ensure critical knowledge is documented and transferred across the organization.Role LogisticsTravel to customer sites, operational facilities, and company locations as required.Perform additional duties commensurate with this leadership role.QualificationsProven leader of high-performing engineering teams in fast-growing environments.Demonstrated ability to balance technical rigor, operational execution, and people development.Experience scaling engineering orgs, processes, and standards at pace.Strong foundation in industrial automation, controls systems, and engineering project delivery.Collaborative, trusted leader who develops talent and enforces accountability.Strategic operator able to align engineering priorities with business objectives.Preferred BackgroundExperience with airport systems, baggage handling, logistics, or complex automation programs.Advanced technical or business degree.History of growing engineering capabilities and leadership capacity in scaling companies.Core CapabilitiesTroubleshooting SkillsStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Troubleshooting Industrial Automation EquipmentProcess EngineeringElectrical / Electronic SystemsHigh-level Operations AnalysisBudgeting / Forecasting ExperienceRoot Cause AnalysisProcess DevelopmentTooling and PlatformsAutomated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)RFID SystemsIndustrial Controls (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens, Schneider Electric)SCADAVariable Frequency Drives (VFD)CAD Software (AutoCAD)Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, Beckoff, Modicon, Schneider Electric, Fanuc)HMIServo MotorsIndustrial RobotIf building the systems, standards, and leadership that power enterprise-scale automation excites you, we want to meet you.
