Child Care Center Director - Oyster Creek Montessori (Richmond, TX)

Oyster Creek Montessori School in the Richmond area is seeking an experienced Montessori Director to lead a high quality, nurturing, and fully compliant learning environment. This role blends authentic Montessori leadership, strong operational management, and warm community engagement. The ideal candidate has experience directing a licensed childcare facility, excels at building strong teams and relationships, and understands how to uphold Montessori integrity while meeting Texas Child-Care Licensing standards. As Director, you will guide the school’s daily operations, support academic excellence, foster a positive culture for staff and families, and ensure the center fulfills its mission and long term goals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Montessori Director or early childhood leadership experience
  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
  • Montessori credential (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Food Safety Manager Certification
  • Childcare Director License (Required)
  • Knowledge of Texas Child-Care Licensing standards
  • Computer proficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Leadership
    • Uphold authentic Montessori philosophy and classroom practice
    • Observe classrooms regularly and provide coaching and feedback
    • Support lesson planning, classroom flow, and individualized learning
    • Ensure environments meet Montessori standards, child development principles, and licensing requirements
  • Staff Leadership & Development
    • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, evaluate, and retain high quality staff
    • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development
    • Lead orientations, evaluations, and regular staff meetings
    • Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture
    • Supervise staff performance and ensure responsibilities are fulfilled
  • School Operations & Compliance
    • Oversee daily operations in compliance with Texas Minimum Standards
    • Maintain accurate staff, student, attendance, and licensing records
    • Interpret licensing codes and develop compliant policies and procedures
    • Ensure facility health and safety compliance
    • Keep emergency procedures updated; conduct fire, disaster, and intruder drills
    • Assist with inspections, audits, and regulatory communication
    • Manage budgets for staffing, supplies, materials, and equipment
    • Lift/move children and/or materials up to ~50 lbs.
    • Use Montessori software (ProCare, CRM, Montessori Compass, etc.)
  • Family Experience & Community Engagement
    • Build strong relationships with families through warm, clear communication
    • Plan and coordinate engaging parent and community events, including developing flyers and communication materials for families.
    • Support campus operations by assisting with tours, parent meetings, conferences, and schoolwide events.
    • Address parent questions with professionalism and empathy
    • Help create a welcoming, consistent, and community oriented school experience
  • Enrollment, Marketing & Growth
    • Participate in tours and admissions conversations
    • Guide families from inquiry through enrollment
    • Support retention through strong classroom and family experience
    • Organize open houses, marketing events, summer programs, and special events
    • Contribute to school growth initiatives
  • Accreditation & Quality Standards
    • Work toward and maintain all required school accreditations.
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Work Expectations

  • Onsite leadership role in an active school environment
  • Regular interaction with children, staff, and families
  • Occasional evening or weekend events as needed
  • Able to drive a school bus; may need to transport children to and from school and field trip venues.
