The Director of Clinical Engineering oversees the operations of the Clinical Engineering department for MedStar Washington Hospital Center, MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital, and affiliated medical practice locations. This role is responsible for the planning, budgeting, acquisition, and lifecycle management of clinical capital equipment, including evaluating post-warranty support options, negotiating service contracts, and recommending equipment maintenance or replacement. The Director also builds strong relationships with stakeholders across the region to align clinical engineering services with organizational goals and support high-quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or must be actively pursuing Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 5 years of progressively more responsible job-related or management experience
  • CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician CHTM or CBET upon hire or must be actively pursuing CHTM or CBET and obtained within 2 years from date of hire
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency's accreditation requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management internal departments and external agencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment. Business acumen and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software applications.
  • Ability to travel between sites as necessary.
