About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Research to lead a team focused on data‑centric research. As a Director on the Research team, you will recruit and lead a team of applied researchers, set the team culture, and set a high standard for quality and velocity. You will bridge the gap between frontier AI research and real‑world AI development, collaborating with researchers at leading labs and academics across top universities.
Main Responsibilities
- Team building & leadership: recruit and lead a team of applied researchers.
- Frontier data research: collaborate with academic and industry‑leading AI labs to define data‑centric techniques powering the next generation of foundation models.
- Strategic roadmapping: anticipate bottlenecks in AI data and pivot the team to develop programmatic solutions.
- Operational excellence: partner with Go‑to‑Market, Operations, and Product teams to enhance current state and drive the roadmap for future focus.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in applied AI, research or machine learning roles, with at least 6+ years of experience managing technical teams.
- A player‑coach who is willing to be hands‑on with coding, research, and customer‑facing engagements.
- A proven track record of thriving in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, comfortable managing competing priorities across cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Enjoys solving real‑world problems in the data space and bridging research and production.
- Strong, practical experience working with LLMs and agentic workflows.
- Bonus: experience with data annotation workflows or building internal tooling for them.
