Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. Arizona time. The position may be hybrid with the option to work from Banner Corporate Phoenix or Banner Corporate Mesa offices.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead healthcare actuarial analyses (projections, pricing, reserving, and other analyses using Excel, SAS, Teradata, Tableau, and other software) with limited oversight from senior staff.
  2. Develop and present results of the analyses to senior actuarial staff and/or insurance division executives.
  3. Lead and participate in the development of actuarial models and reports to support the growth of the actuarial team.
  4. Serve as a department representative on major projects and in the interpretation of healthcare regulations.
  5. Communicate highly technical topics to external audiences with excellent presentation skills.
  6. Provide training, leadership, and development opportunities for junior staff and offer honest feedback to support talent growth.
  7. Collaborate with leaders outside actuarial and finance departments to provide actuarial support and inform strategies driving results.
  8. Lead the development of models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and ad‑hoc business needs, communicating results to a wide audience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare actuarial analysis, typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline, accompanied by seven years of experience.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation within 12 months of hire.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software, including spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel, VBA), data extraction and manipulation (e.g., SAS, Teradata, R), and data visualization (e.g., Tableau).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actuarial experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or commercial health insurance.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
