Help at Home is seeking caring, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. We offer weekly pay, flexible scheduling, paid training, and opportunities for career growth.
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide one‑on‑one support to help individuals build daily living skills and live as independently as possible. You will teach and assist with everyday activities, encourage participation in the community, and support personal goals while promoting dignity, choice, and self-advocacy.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a background check and required training.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance, either primary or secondary coverage.
- Ability to work safely and respectfully in individuals’ homes and communities.
- Compassion, reliability, and a desire to make a positive impact.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and/or autism.
- Implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Using foundational behavior‑support strategies, including redirection, visual prompting, and environmental modification.
Responsibilities
- Help individuals develop daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and other personal care activities.
- Provide hands‑on assistance based on individual needs while encouraging independence.
- Provide transportation and support participation in shopping, social events, and community activities.
- Help individuals work toward personal goals and recognize their progress.
- Promote personal choice, independence, and self-advocacy.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, activities, and progress.
- Communicate with team members to ensure consistent, quality support.
