Our client is a Louisiana-based fabrication operation. They build large, engineered piping assemblies for major industrial projects, and recently expanded into both power generation and more specialized work such as pharmaceutical piping.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Dimensional Inspector to support piping fabrication in Walker, Louisiana. This role verifies that fabricated pipe spools match approved drawings for dimensions, tolerances, orientation, and identification, so each assembly is correct and ready for the next fabrication or installation step.

It's a strong fit for an experienced pipe fitter or fabricator who can read spool drawings accurately and turn them into reliable inspection checks.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect pipe spools, fittings, flanges, branches, supports, and related assemblies for dimensional accuracy against approved isometrics, spool drawings, and project specifications.
• Check overall dimensions, center-to-center and face-to-face measurements, end preparations, offsets, angles, elevations, branch locations, and component orientation.
• Confirm flange rotation, bolt-hole orientation, slope, takeoffs, and spool match points before release or shipment.
• Use tapes, squares, levels, inclinometers, calipers, straightedges, templates, and other measuring tools, and verify tool condition and calibration status when required.
• Compare spool tags, line numbers, weld numbers, material markings, and component details against drawings and traceability documents.
• Record measured values on drawings or inspection records and clearly identify discrepancies, rework needs, or drawing conflicts.
• Coordinate inspection timing with fitters, welders, fabrication supervision, quality personnel, and material control to prevent avoidable rework.
• Reinspect corrected work and document final acceptance in the designated records system.
• Follow safe work practices around fabrication equipment, rigging, hot work, and material movement.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics, spool sheets, dimensions, symbols, and fabrication notes.
• Experience as a pipe fitter, pipe fabricator, spool inspector, or in a comparable dimensional quality role. Skilled fitters and fabricators may qualify directly.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and recognize conditions that could prevent fit-up or installation.
• Comfort using common dimensional inspection tools and recording measurements clearly.
• Basic computer skills for completing inspection forms and entering results into project systems.
• Clear communication and the ability to work constructively with craft and quality teams.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; demonstrated trade experience may be considered in place of formal education.
• Must meet project access, orientation, and safety requirements.

Performance Expectations

Measurements and records must be accurate, legible, traceable to the correct spool and drawing revision, and completed within the project inspection sequence. Inspectors are expected to flag drawing conflicts and out-of-tolerance conditions promptly and to stay within their assigned quality authority.
