This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) practices with delegated prescriptive authority and is credentialed as an independent provider.This role focuses on the evaluation and management of patients with gastrointestinal conditions, working collaboratively with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to provide high-quality, evidence-based care.Essential Functions of the Role:Perform comprehensive or focused patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinationsDiagnose and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions in an outpatient settingOrder, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testsDevelop and implement evidence-based treatment plansPrescribe medications and recommend therapeutic interventions in accordance with scope of practicePerform procedures as appropriate to specialty and training, following established protocolsEducate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, nutrition, and preventive careCounsel patients on medication use, including potential side effects and interactionsMaintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentationInitiate referrals or consultations when patient needs exceed scope of practiceProvide specialty-level consultation services based on training and experienceSupport care across settings when needed (e.g., clinic, procedural areas, limited inpatient support if required)Participate in extended or adjusted schedules as needed for patient care coverageKey Success Factors:Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal disease processes, diagnostics, and treatment modalitiesCritical thinking and clinical decision-making skillsEffective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamProficiency in electronic medical records and clinical systemsCommitment to delivering patient-centered, outcomes-based careQualifications:Education:Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programExperience:Prefer more than 1 year of experience (gastroenterology or outpatient specialty experience preferred)Certification & Licensure:Current Physician Assistant license in the State of TexasCertification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transferWork Environment & Schedule:Full-Time, Exempt positionDay shift scheduleNo routine travel requiredDirect patient care role in an outpatient specialty clinicBelonging Statement:We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
