The Diesel Technician will perform mechanical repairs, maintenance, overhauls, and rebuilds of heavy-duty trucks and other related equipment.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions or damagePerform all mechanical repairs, maintenance, overhauls, and rebuilds of heavy-duty trucks and other related equipmentTest drive vehicles and test components and systems, when applicableUse equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devicesUse electronic test equipment to locate and correct malfunctions in fuel and emissions control systemsInspect belts, hoses, steering systems, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas for additional repairs neededTest electronic computer components to ensure that they are working properlyDisassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gaugesQualificationsEducation/Training or Experience:High School graduate or GED requiredDiploma from Technical College or equivalent experienceSome computer skills required1-2 years experience in heavy-duty truck repair preferred
