and CanadaAnnual boot allowanceAnnual prescription safety glasses reimbursementEmployee discounts on vehicles, cell phone plans, travel, entertainment, and more through PerkSpotEmployee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential counseling and support services for personal and work-related needsAbout the Diesel Technician PositionAs a Diesel Technician with First Student, you'll help maintain and repair our fleet of school buses to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready to transport students every day.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance (PMs), annual inspections, and safety inspections.Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, suspensions, steering systems, drive trains, transmissions, clutches, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.Ensure all vehicles meet company, state, and federal safety standards.Complete work orders accurately and efficiently.Assist with mobile road calls and emergency repairs as needed.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.Work collaboratively with fellow technicians and location leadership to maximize fleet availability.QualificationsAt least 2 years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of technical school education and hands-on experience.Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.Valid driver's license required.CDL Class B, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire (company-paid training provided).Must possess a mechanic's tool set to perform assigned duties.Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and pay incentives provided).Basic computer skills.Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.Note: This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.
