Diesel MechanicThis critical role supports transportation and heavy equipment operations by maintaining and repairing diesel vehicles and machinery. The Diesel Mechanic ensures vehicle reliability, safety, and optimal performance through comprehensive diagnostic, maintenance, and repair services. This position requires advanced technical skills, mechanical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality equipment functionality across various vehicle types and systems.Job Responsibilities:Maintain safe and professional working environmentDiagnose and perform preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipmentRemove, repair, rebuild, and replace vehicle assemblies and partsPerform electrical work including wiring systems and starter rebuildingRepair and adjust electrical sensors and computerized systemsDiagnose fuel management, ignition systems, and engine timingWeld broken assemblies and partsManage equipment, materials, and suppliesMaintain clean and organized work areaPrepare work reports and recordsLearn and utilize diagnostic equipmentHandle road service callsQualifications:3+ years fleet/transportation maintenance experienceValid Driver's LicenseKnowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systemsAbility to work independentlyUnderstanding of maintenance manuals and diagramsExperience with heavy-duty vehicle repairKnowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, DOT)Problem-solving and customer service skillsCDL (A class) license preferredPA Inspection License A+ preferredAir Conditioning and Refrigeration CertificationDOT brake adjustment certificationPhysical Demands:Handle tools and controlsStand for long periodsKneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretchLift 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionallyPrecise hand and finger movementsColor and sound discrimination
