Responsibilities
* Set up blanking and/or piercing and/or forming operations for parts involving most production equipment, gauging, and tooling.
* Adjust tooling and press mechanisms and controls as needed to meet required quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
* Use and understand the necessary company standard procedures such as the Quality Control Manual, the Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.
* Move tooling in and out of the equipment using mechanical moving equipment to assist when necessary.
* Move and maintain identity of the specified raw stock, semi-finished parts, containers, etc. to and from workstation and storage areas.
* Instruct operators on how to run assigned jobs. Ensure understanding for each set up in all phases of the tooling and equipment to meet specified quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
* Set-up and check safeguards according to company policy and procedure.
* At the conclusion of each operation, remove tooling from the equipment and return it to crib for storage, or report to Plant Manager if tools need repair. Remove and neatly return unused stock to the specified area and maintain the specified identity.
* Use all company equipment in a safe and proper manner. Avoid misuse and abuse.
* Bring to attention of his supervisor opportunities to improve quality, safety or reduce costs.
* Walks and stands for lengthy periods of time in order to perform his duties and responsibilities. Requires lifting, pulling, and pushing of heavy loads.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Experienced in operating mechanical stamping presses and their standard safety procedures.
* Has worked with tooling and dies used in the stamping process.
* Skilled in the use of mechanical hand tools and equipment setting devices. (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, & Electrical)
* Experience with basic blueprint reading, shop math, and the use of gauges and measuring devices.
