Job Description
The Die Set Operator is responsible for ensuring presses and dies are set up correctly, completing die tryout , first piece approval , and production runs while meeting established timing, safety, and quality requirements. This position requires strong press setup , die setup , troubleshooting, and manufacturing experience.
COMPENSATION:
* $20.00-$27.00 per hour
* Plus a $1.25 weekly attendance bonus
* Employees working a dedicated/pure 2nd shift receive an additional $0.25 per hour shift premium
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Pull and set dies following established die setup procedures .
* Read and follow the Quality Process Check Sheet to meet job setup requirements.
* Verify proper die setup, including shut height , die protection , and scrap removal.
* Complete Die Set Check Sheets, Die Information, and Setup Sheets.
* Perform die set and pre-stage responsibilities, including loading coils, changing date/logo stamps, staging dies, checking parts, operating presses, and packing parts as required.
* Use ShopEdge to print tags, label parts, record scrap, and consume raw material.
* Set up feeders using Coe, Minster, and Dallas controls .
* Set PLCs within presses using Minster, Aida, and Siemens controls .
* Run jobs through first piece approval and make necessary adjustments until approved by Quality.
* Perform die setup troubleshooting and optimize operating parameters to improve throughput.
* Maintain a high level of attention to detail and product quality.
* Follow established safety, housekeeping, and 5S practices.
* Inspect light curtains daily and complete required safety documentation.
* Support the Supervisor and communicate press or setup issues.
* Apply working knowledge of QMS/EMS requirements.
* Assist in other manufacturing operations as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong basic math skills .
* Experience using measuring tools in a manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA requirements related to die setup and press operation.
* Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to safely perform press operation and die setup activities.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to train fellow employees and communicate technical information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum 5 years of automotive manufacturing experience .
* Training or experience operating a forklift .
* Experience with Minster, Aida, Siemens, Coe, and Dallas Controls .
* HMS
