Die Maker JourneypersonGeneral Motors has needs for qualified Die Maker Journeypersons. Working under minimal supervision, the skilled trades Die Maker Journeyperson is responsible for building, repairing, remodeling, and maintaining all types of dies using various types of material.Primary Responsibilities:Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company proceduresFabricate and/or repair dies for production, including performing required welding operationsRead blueprints to perform die repair/fabricationPerform die repair, using mills, lathes and grinders as well as hand toolsMake in-press repairs of dies/toolingDie tryout duties as requiredUtilize measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, to repair/fabricate diesDrive a hi-lo and/or operate overhead crane to transport dies as well as other heavy equipmentDocument and record various data for the departmentBasic computer skillsInterested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker trade or six (6) years of documented experience as an Die MakerMust be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background checkAt least 18 years of ageEligible to work in the United StatesMust be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice.This position may be filled with a Journeyperson or Journeyperson in Training; the Compensation ranges for a JIT include ($37.88 - $44.19) or a Journeyperson rate of $45.09.
