Overview The Die Corrector is a key member of the die shop team, responsible for identifying and correcting issues with existing dies to enhance performance and ensure they meet production requirements. This role demands a high level of precision, technical skill, and an understanding of die mechanics to improve die designs and processes.
Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in die correction, preferably within the aluminum extrusion industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical prints.
• Proficient in general machine work and knowledgeable about die mechanics.
• Physical ability to manage heavy materials and stand for extended periods including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching.
• Proficient in safety protocols for handling hazardous materials, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Good communication skills for effective coordination with team members and reporting to supervisors.
• Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Functions:
• Polish and make corrections to die tooling.
• Document all corrections to facilitate redesigns for future dies.
• Analyze die performance history and recommend design modifications to enhance performance.
• Inspect dies post-production to ensure they conform to specifications and make necessary adjustments.
• Properly use and understand measuring equipment and tools required for die correction.
• Operate milling machines, sandblasters, and caustic systems efficiently.
• Assist in the training of new die technicians and correctors.
• Assist in daily operations of the caustic area and help maintain all die records.
• Take directions from the Die Manager/Supervisor to perform assigned tasks.
• Inspect smoothness and contour of dies.
• Read section prints and inspect extrusions to ensure they match the design prints.
• Understand metal flow in dies and apply techniques to modify it as needed.
• Ensure all tooling is properly identified by size, type, and storage location
• Compile, store, and retrieve production data to analyze die ratio efficiency and gains.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure tooling is prepared and available as per the schedule.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) while operating machinery
• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, especially those related to the handling of hazardous materials, including the operation of caustic tanks and sandblasters.
• Regularly participate in safety training sessions to stay updated on the best practices for handling hazardous substances.
• Monitor the workplace for any safety hazards and immediately report potential risks to the supervisor.
