Project Profile

The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17) is a large network comprised of seven (7) healthcare systems geographically dispersed throughout the state of Texas. The VISN is supporting expanded bed capacity to meet the increased operational surge capacity throughout the state of Texas, and to support the VA’s fourth mission by providing humanitarian assistance.

The Candidate

ProSidian seeks a Registered Nurse to support an engagement with The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17). This position supports the current expanded operations and post-COVID operations to restore the healthcare systems to pre-Pandemic operations.

This is a Contract Contingent position and the Registered Nurse services shall be performed at the: South Texas Veterans Health Care System 7400 Merton Minter St., San Antonio, TX 78229

Services Task and Job Requirements

• Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from a program that has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Registered Nurse with a current Texas State license including BLS certification and ACLS certification.
• Maintain proficiency using the nursing process in for patients with complex nursing care needs and be able to guide and direct others who provide care.
• Demonstrate leadership and be proficient at delivering hemodialysis effectively.
• Be self-directed and comfortable working independently in the hemodialysis setting.
• Have physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures
• Have the ability and knowledge to perform in nursing care emergencies.
• Be able to serve as a charge nurse for hemodialysis unit as needed.
• Be able to serve as float nurse in Hemodialysis Unit.
• Be able to cover renal clinics as needed and provide patient education.
• Have ability to serve as a liaison between Dialysis Unit (Chronic/Acute), including on-call schedule.
• Be able to prepare and setup out-patients for TPA indwelling and monitoring.
• Be able to initiate dialysis related IV infusions and monitor the patients.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff.
• Demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
