nJob Summary:
nThe Biomedical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, calibration, and overall operational condition of all water treatment systems, dialysis machines, and related medical and mechanical equipment. This role ensures the safety and functionality of equipment used in patient care across assigned clinic(s), supporting both clinical operations and regulatory compliance.
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
nThe following duties are essential to the successful performance of this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed:
nTechnical Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
nTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.
nRepair, test, calibrate, clean, and disinfect dialysis machines, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and water distribution loops according to protocols. Knowledge of Fresenius & Tablo hemodialysis machines.
nPerform electrical safety checks on dialysis machines and related equipment.
nMaintain and update preventive maintenance schedules and accurate service records for all equipment.
nBe familiar with operation and instruction manuals; capable of starting up and shutting down clinic equipment as needed.
nWater Treatment Systems:
nConduct water quality testing (e.g., free/total chlorine, water hardness) per protocol.
nPerform safety checks and routine maintenance on pretreatment equipment (e.g., carbon tanks, water softeners, UV lamps, ultrafilters).
nCollect and prepare water and dialysate samples for microbiological and AAMI analysis.
nDisinfect central bicarbonate system, RO system, mixing tanks, distribution loops, and dialysis machines as required.
nInventory & Supplies:
nAssist with purchasing and supply management; place orders and perform weekly/month-end inventory counts.
nImplement and maintain inventory control practices (e.g., FIFO).
nAssist in receiving, storing, and stocking supplies appropriately.
nMix bicarbonate and acid concentrate solutions per protocol.
nSafety & Compliance:
nEnsure all duties are performed in compliance with company policies, protocols, and applicable federal and state regulations.
nUse personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to OSHA standards.
nMaintain current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
nMonitor the physical environment for safety risks; coordinate necessary repairs.
nBe familiar with emergency equipment and procedures.
nCollaboration & Training:
nInstruct clinical staff on proper use and care of equipment.
nPresent technical summaries in QAPI meetings as required.
nMaintain collaborative relationships with Clinic Administrators to ensure operational needs are met.
nPromote customer service standards and support a positive clinic environment.
nParticipate in staff meetings, in-services, and required training sessions.
nAssist with technical training for clinical staff, including initial and annual competency assessments.
nRequirements:
nTo perform this role successfully, the Biomedical Technician must be able to meet the following qualifications:
nHigh school diploma or equivalent — Required
nValid driver's license in the state of employment with a clean driving record — Required
nWillingness to travel to multiple locations within the Phoenix area — Required
nAbility to distinguish all primary colors — Required
nPrevious experience in dialysis, hospital, or medical equipment repair — Preferred
nAbility to function effectively under stress and in emergency situations
nStrong verbal and written communication skills in English
nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
nExcellent organizational and time management skills
