Diagnostic Radiology Technologist- Nights

Job Summary

$20,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants. This posting reflects an opening for an X-ray Tech I. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include X-ray Tech II based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis, and assist or independently perform procedures under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. They prepare, administer, and document medication and radiation exposure activities in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Job Duties

• Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocol, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply principles of ALARA.
• Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, verify archival storage and data transfer, and post-process data when applicable.
• Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
• Assist the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
• Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including those performed outside the Radiology Department (e.g., operating room, endoscopy, ICU).

Position Details

• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.

Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program – Radiologic Technology (Required). Bachelor's Degree – Related Field of Study (Preferred).

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of related work experience (Required).

Certification and License

• Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body.
• Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
