- Interpret X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, DEXA, and Fluoroscopy studies
- Review imaging requests for appropriateness
- Protocol studies and oversee imaging procedures
- Prescribe contrast agents and imaging protocols
- Provide guidance to radiology technologists
- Ensure compliance with ACR standards and ALARA radiation safety principles
- Communicate critical and urgent findings to providers
- Identify and report poor image quality or equipment issues
- Complete STAT exams within 1 hour, ASAP exams within 8 hours, and routine exams within 48 hours
- Consult with referring physicians regarding X-Ray, CT, MRI, PET/CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Fluoroscopy
- Assist in selecting appropriate imaging procedures
- Review consults and pre-review scheduled examinations
- Attend department meetings
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
- Maintain licensure, certifications, and CME requirements
- Participate in accreditation and compliance reviews
- Support radiation safety and quality programs
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring staff when needed
- Respond to leadership and administrative requests
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD/DO)
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency
- Board Certified or Board Eligible through the American Board of Radiology
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Active AHA BLS and ACLS
- NPI report printout
- Active DEA license
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
- Must have lived continuously in the United States for the past three years prior to appointment at a federal facility
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
