Position Specifics
The Department of Radiology Health Physics at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, seeks a non‑tenure line Diagnostic Medical Physicist (Assistant Professor) to support imaging physics activities at the College, Penn State Health’s five medical centers, and numerous outpatient clinics. The position supports a customizable selection of modalities including radiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, ultrasound, mammographic, MR, and nuclear medicine/PET imaging. Some experience with MR and MR safety is preferred.
Core responsibilities:
- Advanced imaging clinical support and acceptance testing.
- Supervision of physicist assistants.
- Quality assurance oversight and routine performance testing.
- Education and training of technologists, physicist assistants, medical residents, and physicians.
- ACR accreditation support, radiation shielding, and dosimetry calculations.
- Clinical research support.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree (MS, DMP, or PhD) in medical physics or a related discipline.
- At least two years of experience in clinical diagnostic radiology or nuclear medicine physics (including residency, if applicable).
- Board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology. For board‑eligible candidates, a faculty appointment in Radiology will be provided upon certification.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and written and oral communication skills.

- PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
- Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
- Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, as operating a motor vehicle is part of the role.
