The Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer is responsible for bringing ideas and hands‑on implementation skills needed to deploy and maintain software services. The DevOps Engineer will assist the Engineering team’s productivity by developing and maintaining integrated DevOps pipelines, developing and maintaining OKTA solutions for identity management, supporting hybrid on‑prem/cloud infrastructure, building automated deployments through the use of configuration management technology and deploying new modules and upgrading and completing fixes within the legacy and new production environment.

  • Build and maintain OKTA solutions for multi‑cohort, multi‑entitlement environments.
  • Implement routing and rate limiting to support API gateway solutions
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation scripts, UIs, and tooling to support scalable, high‑frequency deployments with minimal downtime.
  • Leverage commercial and open‑source tools to manage deployments across Test, Production, and customer‑facing environments.
  • Drive Release Management strategy, framework design, and execution across Agile and Waterfall projects, including release calendars and zero‑downtime deployment initiatives.
  • Build and maintain OKTA solutions for multi‑cohort, multi‑entitlement environments.
  • Implement API gateway solutions, including routing and rate limiting.
  • Evaluate and improve version control and configuration management tooling to enable high performance parallel development and real‑time change impact analysis.
  • Develop and maintain DevOps standards, guidelines, best practices, and procedures (DevOps Playbook).
  • Define and implement Test Automation and Continuous Testing strategies that support TDD across multi‑platform environments.
  • Define and support Test Environment Management strategies and tooling to efficiently provision and manage test environments.
  • Partner with Infrastructure teams to automate scaling and server resource management in support of CI/CD and zero‑downtime goals.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging tools to continuously improve DevOps practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in required after‑hours activities, such as scheduled server patching.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science or a related discipline.
  • 5 years’ IT experience with at least 3 years’ experience in hands‑on DevOps implementation.
  • 3 years’ experience with Okta development and administration
  • Experience with implementing solutions in a multi‑layered hybrid environment
  • Experience designing, implementing and managing a Release Management process, and packaging/performing releases into various business and customer facing environments besides Test environments.
  • Experience architecting, designing and setting up a CI/CD framework in legacy and non‑legacy environments.
  • Experience with Ubuntu or other Linux/Unix Operating systems and at least one scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python, Shell, PowerShell, Bash).
