PositionOverview

TheDesignManagerleadsthedesignfunctionforDSI'sOff-SiteManufacturingdivision,takingmechanical(HVACandplumbing)scopeformission-criticalanddata-centerprojectsfromconceptthroughmodularization,detaileddesign,shopfabricationpackages,andfieldinstallationdrawings.Theroleownsdesignquality,schedule,andconstructabilityforprefabricatedmodules,skids,racks,andmulti-tradeassemblies,andistheprimarydesigninterfacebetweencustomers,engineersofrecord,DSIprojectteams,andthefabricationshop.

KeyResponsibilities

DesignLeadership

Leadmodularizationstrategyforeachproject:definemoduleboundaries,breakpoints,transportenvelopes,rigging/liftingprovisions,andsiteconnectionpoints.

Managedevelopmentofmoduledesignpackages—P&IDs,generalarrangements,pipingisometrics,structuralframe/skiddrawings,hangerandsupportdetails,andbillsofmaterial.

Produceandreleaseshopfabricationpackages(spooldrawings,weldmaps,cutlists,nesting)tothefabricationflooronschedule;managerevisioncontrolandas-builtclose-out.

Coordinatedesignwithengineersofrecord,structuralengineers,andcustomerengineeringteams;resolveRFIsanddrivedesigndecisionstoclosure.

Enforcecompliancewithcontractdrawings,projectspecifications,andapplicablecodesandstandards(ASMEB31.1/B31.9,ASHRAE,IMC/UPC,AWSD1.1,customerweldingandpassivationspecifications).

BIM/VDC&Coordination

OwntheOSMBIMexecutionplan;setmodelingstandards,LOD400detailingrequirements,andRevit/Fabricationcontentlibraries.

Runmulti-tradeclashdetectionandcoordinationsign-offformodules;ensurefield-readymodelsfeedlayout,fabrication,andQA/QC.

Drivedesign-for-manufacturinganddesign-for-assembly(DFMA)practicestoreduceshophours,rework,andfieldlabor.

TeamManagement

Hire,develop,andmanageateamofdesignengineers,modelers,anddetailers;setpriorities,reviewwork,andmanageworkloadacrossconcurrentprojects.

EstablishdesignKPIs—hourspermodule,drawingreleaseon-time%,rework/ECNrate,RFIcycletime—andreportthemmonthly.

Buildstandards,templates,andalibraryoftypicalmoduledesignstoacceleraterepeatdata-centerproductlines.

Preconstruction&ProjectSupport

Supportestimatingandbusinessdevelopmentwithconceptualmodulelayouts,quantities,anddesign-hourestimatesduringpursuits.

Participateinprojectkickoff,constructabilityreviews,andfactoryacceptancetesting;supportcommissioningwithdesigndocumentation.

CoordinatewithProduction,Quality,Procurement,andProjectManagementtoaligndesignreleaseswiththefabricationscheduleandmaterialleadtimes.

RequiredQualifications

Bachelor'sdegreeinmechanicalengineering,ArchitecturalEngineering,ConstructionManagement,orequivalentexperience.

8+yearsinmechanical(HVAC/plumbing/processpiping)designordetailing,including3+yearsleadingadesignorBIM/VDCteam.

Directexperiencedesigningprefabricatedormodularmechanicalassemblies(skids,racks,CRAH/CDUmodules,pumppackages,piperacks)forconstruction.

ExpertproficiencyinAutodeskRevitandFabrication(CADmep/ESTmep/CAMduct),Navisworks,andAutoCAD;workingknowledgeofAutodeskConstructionCloud.

Strongcommandofpiping,sheetmetal,andstructuralsupportdesign;abletoreadandapplyprojectspecificationsandindustrycodes.

Demonstratedabilitytomanagemultipleconcurrentprojects,meetreleaseschedules,andcommunicateclearlywithcustomersandfieldteams.

PreferredQualifications

ProfessionalEngineer(PE)license.

Datacenter/mission-criticalprojectexperiencewithhyperscalecustomers.

ExperiencewithInventor,Plant3D,orStratusforfabricationworkflows;familiaritywithSmartsheetorPrimaveraforscheduleintegration.

KnowledgeofLeanmanufacturing,DFMA,andISO9001qualitysystems.

WorkingknowledgeofVistaorD365fordesign-hourtrackingandjobcost.
