Job DescriptionLocation: Carlisle Rate: Circa £400 per day Contract: 36 months IR35: Inside IR35 Working pattern: Minimum three days per week on siteWe are recruiting an experienced Design Manager to take responsibility for the end-to-end coordination and assurance of design activities on a major HV substation project.You will manage the design programme, oversee technical assurance and coordinate design interfaces across project management, engineering, planning, commercial and construction teams.### Key responsibilitiesDevelop, maintain and monitor the project design programmeCoordinate design activities with planning, procurement and constructionEnsure designs meet client specifications, Grid standards and CDM requirementsManage technical assurance submissions, hold-point reviews and gateway approvalsLead multidisciplinary design reviewsManage RFIs, technical queries and design communicationsMaintain design change registers and support NEC change-control processesIdentify the cost, programme and risk implications of design changesManage design risks across temporary and permanent worksSupport buildability, tender and pre-construction activities### Essential experienceAt least eight years experience in design management or a closely related role Strong experience delivering HV substation projects Familiarity with Grid standards, processes and assurance requirements Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams Knowledge of NEC change-control processes, including early warnings and compensation events Strong stakeholder management and project leadership skills Able to work on site in Carlisle at least three days per week A relevant engineering, construction or project management qualification would be advantageous.TPBN1_UKTJ
