nPosition Overview
nWe are seeking a detail-oriented Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of commercial ice machines and refrigeration systems.
nThe ideal candidate will bring hands-on product engineering experience, strong CAD capabilities, and practical knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, sheet metal design, and manufacturing processes.
nKey Responsibilities
nDesign and develop commercial cuber, flaker, nugget, pearl, and specialty ice-making equipment.
nCreate 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
nSupport new product development from initial concept through validation and production launch.
nEvaluate thermal performance, airflow, structural integrity, and refrigeration system efficiency.
nIntegrate compressors, condensers, evaporators, water circulation components, and dispensing systems.
nBuild, test, validate, and troubleshoot prototypes and production-ready equipment.
nPartner with manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, and cost.
nLead continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, energy efficiency, and product performance.
nSupport root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production and field issues.
nCoordinate with suppliers on component design, development, testing, and qualification.
nMaintain technical reports, test procedures, engineering changes, and product documentation.
nEnsure designs comply with applicable UL, NSF, CE, DOE, and refrigeration safety requirements.
nRequired Qualifications
nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
nThree to seven years of product design, refrigeration, HVAC/R, or equipment engineering experience.
nProficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable 3D CAD software.
nStrong understanding of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and airflow.
nExperience with sheet metal, plastics, fabrication, and electromechanical assemblies.
nKnowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and engineering change processes.
nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
nPreferred Qualifications
nExperience designing commercial refrigeration, foodservice, HVAC/R, or ice-making equipment.
nKnowledge of R290 or other environmentally responsible refrigerants.
nFamiliarity with UL and NSF certification processes.
nHands-on prototype development and testing experience.
nExperience with ERP or PDM systems.
