Deputy Program Manager, EngineeringGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Program Manager, Engineering (DPME) to join our Future Combatants and Mission Systems (FCMS) business area. FCMS is at the forefront of designing and integrating mission systems onto new construction and post-delivery ships, playing a critical role in advancing the United States Navy's surface warfare capabilities. In this role, you will ensure high-quality deliverables, foster cross-functional collaboration, and maintain the integrity of project schedules and budgets. You will be a critical driver of technical excellence, risk management, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct lessons learned reviews after each major project phase to drive continuous improvementDevelop and maintain comprehensive engineering plans aligned with project requirementsEnsure all project deliverables — including documentation — are developed with high quality and delivered on scheduleEnsure all engineering processes adhere to established engineering practices and standardsValidate that total system requirements are properly defined and verifiedOversee the integration, testing, and verification of total systemsIdentify, develop, analyze, and report engineering project performance measuresImplement effective corrective actions to address technical and programmatic issuesDrive risk identification and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycleLead project change management efforts to maintain scope, schedule, and budget controlKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesTechnical & Analytical:Highly proficient problem-solving skills in complex, multi-disciplinary environmentsHighly proficient ability to apply or develop advanced technologies, principles, theories, and conceptsExpertise in project management, including various project life cycles such as AgileHighly proficient understanding and application of project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process ControlsAbility to anticipate technology, process, and skill needs to support program growthLeadership & Communication:Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate teams, and effectively resolve conflictsHighly proficient communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex project topics to diverse audiencesAbility to handle negotiations and manage interpersonal dynamics effectivelyProven organizational and time management skillsTools & Processes:Fully proficient understanding of company policies, practices, and engineering processesIdentifies and applies AI-driven opportunities for continuous improvement and innovationSalary NoteThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
