For our client, we are seeking a Deputy General Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Hospitality & Recreation space. This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a hospitality and recreation environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $270,000 – $330,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the General Counsel and executive leadership on diverse legal matters
- Lead and manage litigation, claims, and disputes, including legal strategy and outside counsel oversight
- Conduct internal investigations and manage responses to subpoenas and regulatory inquiries
- Design and implement legal and compliance policies and training across the business
- Provide legal advice to various business teams including Finance and HR
- Monitor legal developments and recommend operational changes to mitigate risk
- Oversee legal department operations, including outside counsel management and budgeting
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active state bar membership
- 15+ years of legal experience in law firms or in-house settings, focusing on litigation and compliance
- Experience managing complex commercial disputes and litigation strategies
- Knowledge of corporate governance and legal compliance practices
- Strong business judgment with the ability to provide practical legal advice in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication skills for influencing stakeholders across all levels
- Experience overseeing internal investigations and regulatory inquiries
