This is a full-time position with the Franklin County Clerk’s office – Monday thru Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm located in Benton, Illinois
Job Summary
- Assists all staff members when needed.
- Process mail-in requests for vital records or land records
- Look up vital records either on the computer or books
- Research recorded documents per a customer’s request
- Assists with organizing archival materials received in accordance with plan, including preparing brief description of record type and location.
- In addition to the Clerk duties, at appropriate seasons of the Election Office, this job, under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and administrative functions for the Franklin County Elections Department; processes voter registration applications and election ballots; maintains voter registration files; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Assist with developing and maintaining records retention schedules, including researching legal and regulatory requirements and business needs. Review records for compliance with retention schedules and for adherence to procedures and standards. Assists with updating and maintaining the archival record system and manual indexes. Prepare reports and perform special projects as assigned.
The Election Office, this job, maintains and updates voter registration and election databases, as well as assisting with general Election protocol and processing vote by mail.
Qualifications and Skills
- A valid Driver’s License is required.
- Requires sufficient keyboarding experience to successfully perform essential job duties.
- Ability to communicate face-to-face and on the telephone.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
