Department Manager – McDonald’s (Independent Franchisee)

Job Summary
The Department Manager is responsible for leading one or more functional departments (Guest Service, Kitchen, People) within a McDonald’s restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee. The role focuses on ensuring a fast, accurate, friendly customer experience; maintaining high standards in food safety, quality and cost control; and developing, training and scheduling crew to meet sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage shifts, ensuring customers receive a fast, accurate, friendly experience every visit.
- Oversee departmental systems such as Training, Food Safety and Inventory Management.
- Set departmental goals, delegate tasks, monitor performance, and report results to the management team.
- Ensure Guest Service Department staff deliver excellent customer experience, coordinate promotions and maintain front‑counter, McCafé and Drive‑Thru organization.
- Ensure Kitchen Department provides quality food quickly, maintains safety standards, controls food cost and trains staff in production procedures.
- Ensure People Department hires qualified crew, trains them, schedules effectively, and motivates employees throughout their tenure.
- Collaborate with other managers to achieve restaurant sales and profit objectives.
Qualifications
- Previous managerial experience preferred, ideally within a restaurant, retail or hospitality environment.
- Positive team player with flexible schedule.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Must be 18 years or older to qualify for management in corporate‑owned stores.
